Financial literacy is one of the most powerful tools to help people build a strong future. But, it’s something that can be hard to talk about. Many people don’t even know where to turn to for quality and accessible financial education.
That’s why we’re so excited that Ryan Ripken – sports personality, host of the Ryan Ripken Show podcast, and trusted voice for fans – is stepping up to the plate to help us spread financial literacy in Maryland and beyond. We’re joining forces with a shared mission: to deliver the financial knowledge and confidence people need to succeed.
Whether it’s budgeting basics, saving strategies, credit awareness, or preparing for long-term goals, Ryan will be asking financial questions of his celebrity guests and of everyday Marylanders as they try to make sense of their money. These conversations are designed to make financial literacy relevant and easy to understand.
One of the first big events Ryan was involved with was the SECU Money Masters Challenge at the University of Maryland College Park campus. College students and young adults are making some of their first major financial decisions as adults. So, SECU and Ryan were there to support UMD students with tools and resources to make sound decisions.

We’re meeting students and young adults where they are, bringing important financial information to them in engaging new ways.
