BALTIMORE (August 25, 2022) — The Daily Record has named Sarah Ryan, Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement at SECU – Maryland’s largest state-chartered credit union, to its 2022 list of Leading Women Under 40.
The Daily Record’s Leading Women awards honor women who are 40 years of age or younger for the accomplishments they have made so far in their careers. Winners were selected for the honor based on their professional experience, community involvement and commitment to inspiring change. The honorees were selected by previous Leading Women and The Daily Record.
“We are thrilled that Sarah will be recognized by The Daily Record for her influence and contributions to the community and the industry,” said Becky Smith, EVP and Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at SECU. “Sarah is an invaluable asset to the SECU team and the Baltimore community. In addition to her role at SECU, she volunteers her time and talents in the community and participates on numerous planning committees to ensure programs, events and ideas are implemented to improve and enhance the region.”
In 2021, Ryan was named the Director of the SECU MD Foundation – SECU’s philanthropic arm where she is responsible for the strategy and coordination of the credit union’s corporate and charitable giving. Her oversight includes managing SECU’s strategic partnerships, sponsorships, in-kind donations and employee volunteerism, while also organizing the SECU MD Foundation’s programming, grants and fundraising. Under Ryan’s leadership and vision, SECU and the SECU MD Foundation have successfully executed programs that positively impacted the communities they serve. This includes inspiring nearly 100,000 acts of kindness and donating $50,000 in grants through their annual Kindness Campaign as well as awarding $115,000 in scholarships through the SECU MD Foundation Scholarship Program.
“The 2022 Leading Women demonstrate ideas, energy and creative spirit that strengthen companies across the state and beyond,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of The Daily Record. “In addition to professional excellence, they are also committed to their communities and to mentoring others. We at The Daily Record congratulate them for their success thus far and look forward to their future accomplishments.”
