SECU MD Named Official Banking Partner of Salisbury University
New partnership brings financial wellness resources, student support and campus engagement to the Salisbury University community
Salisbury, Md. (September 14, 2026) – State Employees Credit Union of Maryland (SECU MD) and Salisbury University (SU) today announced a new partnership naming SECU as the university’s Official Banking Partner. The collaboration will bring financial wellness resources, educational programming, and student support initiatives to SU students, faculty, staff, families and alumni, with additional visibility through campus life and Sea Gull athletics.
The partnership centers on making financial guidance easy to find and genuinely useful for the SU community, from first-year students opening their first checking account or beginning to build credit, to graduating seniors preparing for life after college. A new co-branded will serve as the central hub for financial wellness resources, upcoming workshops, student support funds and partnership information, and will anchor outreach across campus signage, email, social media, and printed materials.

The partnership features:
- A co-branded debit card, SECU at SU landing page, and additional co-branded on-campus collaborations.
- Financial wellness workshops covering budgeting, credit-building, scam prevention, and more.
- Student support funds and an approved SECU scholarship program.
- Family Portal content for incoming students and families.
- Integration with Salisbury Athletics, including Sea Gull Sports Network, Maroon & Gold Club benefits, and Sea Gull Stadium activations.
- SU support for SECU’s annual Kindness Campaign each October.

Frostburg State University Announces Official Banking Partnership with SECU MD
Frostburg, Md. (September 14, 2026) – Frostburg State University has entered into a five-year Official Banking Partner Agreement with the State Employees Credit Union of Maryland (SECU MD), creating new opportunities to support student success and enhance campus programs.
Under the agreement, SECU MD will provide the University with $600,000 over five years, along with additional support for each new SECU MD member connected to the university community.
“For more than a century, Frostburg State University has created pathways to opportunity for students while helping strengthen the region we serve,” said FSU president Dr. Shadow JQ Robinson. “Partnerships like this enable us to further invest in student success and enhance the campus experience. We are grateful for SECU’s partnership and shared commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders for Maryland and Appalachia.”
80% of the annual funds received through the agreement will support Frostburg State Athletics, helping to fund renovations to the University’s softball field. The remaining 20% will support student-focused initiatives across campus, including orientation programs, student events, the Career and Professional Development Center, and PAWS Pantry.
The partnership reflects SECU MD’s broader commitment to expanding educational opportunities and financial wellness for Maryland students. Through the SECU MD Foundation Scholarship Program, the Foundation awards $10,000 scholarships to Maryland community college students transferring to four-year public colleges and universities. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships to students across the state, helping remove financial barriers to higher education and supporting long-term student success.
This year, Justice Warner, an emerging media major at Frostburg State University and transfer student from Allegany College of Maryland, was selected as one of just 20 scholarship recipients statewide for the 2026-2027 academic year.
