SECU MD Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund
$500 Relief Fund Grants
The application period for the COVID-19 Relief Fund is now closed and all applicants have been notified of their award status. If you would like to check the status of your application, you may do so by logging into the application platform
When this program launched, we asked SECU members to take the challenge and donate to our COVID-Relief Fund to help support SECU members who may be experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19. For every $1 donated, SECU matched donations up to $100,000.
In celebration of #GivingTuesdayNow, SECU doubled that match challenge to donate $2 for every $1 donated. In the spirit of giving, SECU also contributed an additional $100,000 to the SECU MD Foundation, which enabled us to give 431 members $500 grants!
We’ve been overwhelmed with the generosity and support we’ve seen from SECU members, employees, and our community to help give back to those in need.
Thank you for helping us do more!

SECU MD Foundation Non-profit Business Support
We recognize the response to the COVID-19 outbreak has put many non-profit organizations into overdrive and requires the need for additional financial resources. Through the COVID-19 Non-Profit Support Fund, the SECU MD Foundation provided $2,000 grants to 20 non-profits serving our Maryland communities in response to COVID-19.
In addition to the Non-Profit Support Fund, the SECU MD Foundation also donated over $60,000 to support efforts to provide child care options to essential employees, offset meal expenses for families, and bring technology resources to our local public school systems.
These donations included funds to the United Way as they implement an initiative to set up centers across the state to provide childcare for essential workers and The Maryland Food Bank to create approximately 300 Back-Up Boxes filled with 30+lbs of food for those who need it most right now. The SECU MD Foundation also provided $5,000 donations to local school systems and their Education Foundations systems in support of learning technology, school supplies, meals for students, and to support distance learning.
Healthcare and Educator Heroes
We would like to thank all the healthcare providers and hospital staff who are on the front lines working overtime to fight the pandemic. We have awarded 25 healthcare heroes, nominated by you, with $100 gift cards to thank them for their dedication. Additionally, SECU surprised local hospitals by delivering 1,200 bagels to show our appreciation for everything they are doing.
We would also like to send a BIG thank you to all the educators who have gone above and beyond to help their students through distance learning. We have awarded 25 educator heroes, nominated by you, with $100 gift cards to thank them for their dedication.
