At SECU, we’re proud to call Maryland home. We are committed to strengthening and enriching the lives of our neighbors in the communities where we live and work. By fully embracing the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People," we’re here to help our state thrive.
Being a part of a community means helping when and where you can. SECU supports Maryland communities through a variety of initiatives and programs that bring SECU employees, members, and neighbors together as a force for good.
Our community partners often serve as a lifeline for people in need, but they can’t do it alone. From food and school supply drives to holiday giving programs, SECU employees and members come together throughout the year with a common goal of collecting donations and raising funds to support our partners with additional financial resources and supplies.
How to Get Involved
Our Holiday Giving Drive is going to look a little bit different this year, but our mission and commitment have not changed. We are excited to partner with the Kennedy Krieger Institute for a Virtual Toy Drive, and we invite our employees and members to help this great cause. We’ve put together a wish list from patients receiving treatment at Kennedy Krieger, so please join us in helping holiday dreams come true for these kids!

SECU MD Foundation
SECU has a long history of giving back to the communities we serve. To help grow our community outreach initiatives, SECU launched the SECU MD Foundation in May 2017.
The SECU MD Foundation's mission is to create a stronger Maryland by empowering access to education, supporting health and wellness, and serving as a catalyst for community development. To support this mission, the Foundation oversees an annual Scholarship Program, runs Finance Fairs in local schools, and offers Grant Programs.
How to Get Involved
If you plan on doing any holiday shopping online this year, don’t forget that you can give back while you shop by taking advantage of programs like AmazonSmile!
Employee Volunteer Program
When we come together as a team to serve our community, there's no limit to the impact we can make. SECU employees can take up to 12 hours per quarter to volunteer in the community. While opportunities look slightly different in our current environment, SECU employees have come together over the years to volunteer at food banks, participate in the annual Days of Action, and teach students about financial wellness.
