SECU supports Maryland communities in many ways.
Being a part of a community means you have to help out when and where you can. SECU realizes that although financial education is our primary community goal, various social causes need vital support. If we help people in these ways, we can improve Maryland communities as a whole.
- Food Donations - Each year SECU employees collect and donate hundreds of pounds of canned food to various local organizations, including the Maryland Food Bank, Family Crisis Center and the Joseph House Crisis Center.
- Financial Assistance - We are especially proud of our involvement with the Harvest for the Hungry: Kids helping Kids campaign in association with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. This year SECU donated $7,560 to this very worthy cause. We've also been a longtime supporter of the United Way. This year SECU employees donated and raised over $36,000 for the United Way of Central Maryland.
- School Supplies - Every year SECU and it's members donate over two thousand school supply items to needy Maryland students at the beginning of the school year.
- Points for Pediatrics - SECU has teamed up with the University of Maryland for the Points for Pediatrics Program for the second year in a row. For every point scored by the Terrapin's men's basketball team, SECU donates $5 to the University of Maryland Children's Hospital, with a guaranteed a minimum donation of $10,000. Last season, SECU donated $10,960 in support of care for children with chronic and critical illnesses.
