ATM Security
Keep your information secure at the ATM
Any place you use your credit, debit, or ATM card there is risk of a scammer trying to get your information. The ATM is no exception.
Use these tips to keep your information safe whenever, and wherever, you use an ATM.
Beware of skimmers
Card skimmers are devices that are placed over the regular swiping mechanism or inside the machine. Criminals use them to collect your card details. If something doesn’t seem right about the machine, move on to another.
Hide your PIN
You won’t say your PIN out loud. So don’t let others see what numbers you punch into the ATM. Be aware when people are looking over your shoulder or acting suspiciously behind or next to you in line.
Keep your information private
Don’t write down or share PINs, card numbers, or account numbers with others.
Remain vigilant
Take a look at the ATM and its surroundings before using it. Trust your instincts and call 911 if you see anything suspicious.
