Congratulations to the 2015 SECU State Employee Scholarship Winners!

SECU invited Maryland state employees and their college-bound family members to participate once again in our annual State Employee Scholarship program, launched in 2006.

We are pleased to announce this year’s recipients:

Jermaine Arbuah of Middle River; Michael Alper of Columbia; Georgia Grace Edwards of Frostburg; Charles Fisher of Elkridge; Matthew Heron of Columbia; Justin Kihn of Parkville; Theresa Lippy of Idlewylde; Malik Logan of Pikesville; John McMullen of LaVale; Brady Moon of Cumberland; William Moon of Cumberland; Jennifer Moore of Keedysville; and Dale Walker of Elkridge.

We asked participants to submit an essay or a video explaining the difference between a credit union and a bank, the benefits of being a credit union member, and how a credit union would make a difference in the entrant’s financial future. Out of the 120 submissions received, 10 essays and three videos were selected for scholarships this year.

The 2015 scholarship recipients will be honored at a ceremony on June 11 at the SECU Arena at Towson University. Congratulations to all our winners!

SECU Supports Financial and Scholastic Education

While many institutions have reduced their community involvement, SECU has remained fully committed to helping our communities become stronger and financially healthier, one member and one household at a time.

As part of that commitment we are pleased to sponsor the SECU State Employee Scholarship.

Throughout the past nine years, SECU has given over $250,000 in scholarships to Maryland state employees and their family members who attend college, graduate school, or trade school.
