SECU Announces Awards for Towson University Live Case Challenge Competition
SECU may be pursuing new opportunities in the online financial sector thanks to the innovative ideas of business students from Towson University (TU).
Students in the Strategic Management class participated in a semester-long Live Case Challenge Competition, where they had to evaluate SECU’s business and offer solutions to the challenge question: “How can SECU build its brand awareness and leverage opportunities in the online financial sector?”
Students presented their findings to SECU executives. Cash prizes were awarded to the top three teams:
- The $1,500 first place prize was presented to Jonathan Finlay, Andrew Johnson, Noah Walker, Robert Walsh, Ryan Waskiewicz, and Min Yun of Team MANRR
- The $1,000 second place prize was awarded to Rose Bikoy, Austin Jones, Davis Kellogg, Aaron Remeniuk, and Olubusayo Shabi from Team SECU Solutions
- The $500 third place prize was given to Kevin Davies, Demetrios Lambros, Jacob Mitchell, Richard Rush, and Lawrence Swartz from Team TUNE Team 5
“All of the teams had excellent ideas and input, worthy of the next great class of business leaders,” said SECU President and CEO Rod Staatz. “We congratulate the winners on a job well done, and appreciate all of the enthusiasm from the students during this project. We are proud of our ongoing relationship with Towson University, which allows us to offer programs and events that support their students.”
Through the ongoing relationship with TU, SECU hosts campus Reality Fairs to help with budgeting after college, the University System of Maryland scholarship program, and other special events. As a member-owned credit union, SECU supports communities throughout Maryland and offers financial literacy and awareness programs to help people build a more secure financial future.
